Mamavation Monday: Week 4

I am one of those people.  In fact, I believe I might be that person.  Let’s not pretend you don’t know who I’m talking about.  I’m the one who joins the gym right after New Year’s.  I’m one of those people who shows up on Mondays and Thursdays (and one of the weekend days) and uses the elliptical and treadmill that you had been using at that time for the last 8 months.

I’m sorry.

I didn’t mean to be that person.

Timing just worked out that way.  I had a baby in October and started thinking about joining the gym.  Then, we got a cold that would.not.go.away!  It was so frustrating.  By the time we all got healthy and feeling good, it was the week after New Year’s.  I don’t like to be that person.  I really don’t.  In fact, I almost waited until February just to avoid this situation.  Then, I remembered that I am worth it.  Instead of feeling bad about being one of the many, MANY people who joins the gym in January as a start of a new leaf or resolution or whatever it’s being called this time, and going twice before turning the leaf back the way it was, I’m going to make the best use of my membership, time, and equipment that I can.

Weight loss progress:

Previous weeks’ loss:  3 lbs.

This week’s loss:  1.4 lbs.

Total loss:  4.4 lbs

  1. Great job Casey! You are better than I am able to do right now! I had to give on C25K because of my stupid knees!

The ability to go up and down stairs (with or without 45 pounds of 4 year old in my arms) became more important that my ability to run…I will just have to break out the yoga instead!

  2. Way to go! You do what you gotta do — even when it sucks being one of the oodles of people just starting to work out in early January. I’ve put off going back to the gym for the same reason (overcrowded) and was planning to go back in Feb. But why wait? You’re right. You are worth it. So am I. Keep up the good work!

  3. You are loosing it. That’s great. Now just put your gym shoes on and go go go!

  4. WOO HOO! Great loss! Don’t worry about what others see or think — YOU ARE WORTH IT 🙂 HUGS!

  5. I love this post. So funny. It’s true, though. That feeling happens to me at church all the time. We’re church shopping, so I know when we go to a new place and choose a spot to sit? We’re unseating some regular attendee. I’m sorry. What can you do, though, right?

Have a great week at your new gym!

  6. Good!! Do it when you have to motivation and time, not when you think you’re “supposed” to. Going according to some arbitrary date won’t make you lose the weight; motivation will. Good luck!
